Ishratkhona

Ishratkhona means «The amusement house». This architectural monument which is in Samarkand was erected during governing of the Timurids Abu-Seid (1451-1469 years). Such name to a building was given for a picturesque architectural registration and art furnish which decorated a building from within.

In a waqf diploma of a building it is said that Habiba-Sultan, the wife of the Timurid`s prince Sultan-Ahmed-Mirzy, erected a dome building over a grave of the sister-in-law, princess Havend - Sultan - biki.

Ishratkhona

In due time a given architectural monument included the whole complex of structures. The arch and dome gallery which had an additional entrance to the mausoleum joined the main building of ensemble of Ishratkhona - a tomb with a high western portal - from South. And from North side there was a mosque, also in corners of a building settled down vaulted rooms, there lived people who worked for mausoleums. Today the building is represented by ruins, the dome and a high drum collapsed as a result of earthquake in 1903. In 1940 on a place of ruins archeological excavations, and later - the necessary repair work to keep a monument were made.
